Leaderships

UMBC Student Event Board - Committee Member 2012-2013
  • Assisted the Executive Board members with planning on-campus events and activities including Homecoming and QuadMania, the annual spring festival

  • Volunteered at on-campus (seb) events, supporting both set-up and cleanup activities

When I first started to work with the student event board, my goal was to gain leadership from it. Once I was actively working as an committee member, I got to present my ideas and to make it happen. What I learn from this experience was that there were a lot of backstage planning involved. Budget, timing, place of the events, crew members...etc were all important factors to consider, but making a event came true and saw how many people enjoying it made me feel like I did something special for them.

Taipei Medical University - Speech Coordinator 2013-2014
  • Finalized team logistics and divided 40 group members into four different teams- activity team, public relations, equipment team, and documentary team

  • Served as a liaison and point of contact between the speaker and the public relations teams

  • Helped supplement materials and topics needed for the keynote speaker

  • Maintained individual team progress

The reason why I became the speech coordinator was that no one in the group wanting to set up, and I feel that there is a need for someone to take initiatives. Later on I enjoyed talking to the speaker and got the information needed for the teams to work on their parts. Because of this experience, I learned that solving conflicts between people and yet still need to maintain progress were hard. I had to appreciate those people because they made me grew to the person who I am now.

UMCP Taiwanese American Student Association - Historian 2015-2016
  • took photos at events, post-photo editing, and post photos on websites

  • helped brainstorm during eboard meetings, and carry out plans and events

I enjoyed taking photos of people when they have big smiles on their faces. Capturing the moment of happiness is the most wonderful thing on the world. This was the reason why I took the initiative to run as a historian.

UMCP Taiwanese American Student Association - Senior advisor 2016-2017
  • helping new eboard members understanding their roles and answering any questions they may have

  • attending eboard meetings and help brainstorm ideas for events

Because I wanted to give more opportunities to the lower classmen, I did not run as a historian. Instead, I became the senior advisor. I loved to share my passion with other people and that's why I provide my knowledge and information to the current board members and help them thrive.
